Sledding and Foreign travel - Sweden, France & Norway 2013-2023
We travel to explore and see what nature as to offer. Our love of snowy conditions never slows and we travel with the intentions of fun and relaxing not just to gain qualifications for the dogs efforts. We have had many trips of just 3-5 miles of sledding with coffee stops abroad and visiting friends. To plan a trip has many factors to consider. The ages and fitness of your dogs in the following March(s), seasons on the bitches, whether they like to run together or would rather stay on a sofa. Every dog is different. To have such a tiny kennel of 4 dogs, all be fit, all be capable and all want to sled on a long distance trip, all the stars must be in line.
We were lucky to have this for the first time in 10 years in March 2023.
We follow the Alaskan Malamute Club of Americas schemes of sledding for their Lead dog and Team dog awards. The rules are here all proven by GPS and maps etc. Please check the rules as lead dog is now seperate from team dog and no longer can be claimed at the same time. All mine have been independant of each other. They need to be claimed in order too now to encourage you to work through the levels. AMCA all titles available
There are trekking awards availabe in the UK. Similar rules but are organised events. This can create a more fun and friendlt environment for beginners and people needing a bit of guidence. AMWA is the British organising club. This is a Christmas trek.
